FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Table

CMJC community food pantry ministry partners with fifteen churches throughout Jackson County. Our mission is to empower the neighborhood church to provide food assistance to those facing food insecurity. Our prayer is that individuals and families seeking food assistance will not only be nourished physically but also nourished spiritually by the neighborhood church. Our food pantry partner churches receive food from CMJC at no cost. Several of our church partners have chosen to give financially to support our food ministries.

What is a community food pantry partner church?

Are children with developmental disabilities welcomed to attend Promise Church?

Promise Church is specifically geared toward adults with developmental disabilities, their families, and caregivers. At Promise Church we sing, pray, enjoy a simple meal, listen to a brief message, and enjoy the presence of each other and the presence of the Lord. Currently we do not have classes for children under 18 years of age.

Is Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County a ministry of a local church?

Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County (CMJC) is a non-denominational faith-based organization founded in 2012. We partner with many churches throughout our community. While we lease our campus space from JaxNaz Church, CMJC is not a ministry of JaxNaz Church.

I have a sheet of paper that lists all of your food pantry distribution sites, and I heard you deliver food. Is this correct?

Because our food pantry distribution sites change and the days/times of food distribution can change, we do not print any publication to be distributed. If you have a paper copy of our sites and the times we distribute food, throw it away, it is incorrect. You will always find our pantry site locations, as well as the days and times of distribution, correctly listed on our website and Facebook page.

As far as home delivery of food, during the Covid pandemic, CMJC did deliver food to those needing food assistance. We stopped home deliveries several years ago.

The Table

Yes. While we do not have an elevator, we do have barrier free entrances at both David’s Promise and The Table.

Is the Compassionate Ministries Center handicap accessible?

Because you are not a ministry of a specific church, how does CMJC financially support its ministries?

Because we are not part of a church, CMJC is dependent upon the generosity of individual donors, partner churches, family foundations, community foundations, businesses, and organizations. Additionally, we write grants to support our ministry.

I am interested in volunteering at David’s Promise. Can I just show up?
