Community Transformation

We believe that Community Transformation is an integral part of who we are and what we do. By showing God’s love to others, our community-based ministries of justice and compassion exist to meet basic needs in our community, as well as provide long-term solutions that will empower families and individuals toward a more stable tomorrow.

Compassionate Communication

We have provided Compassionate Communication to numerous businesses, organizations, and community members through a variety of ways: workshops, classes, practice groups, and individual sessions. Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication, is a type of communication that promotes well-being and a consciousness that supports living a life of compassion, collaboration, courage and authenticity.During the 2018/2019 school year, we expanded our outreach to area schools, teaching Compassionate Communication to 280 high school students and 55 educators.

Working closely with DHHS, our Fostering Hospitality ministry has been successful in its mission to support the professionals working in foster care. We support DHHS by providing volunteers and sponsoring staff appreciation luncheons and events.

In addition to providing tangible items and resources for foster care families served by DHHS, we also host respite events for DHHS foster families and host DHHS’s annual Breakfast with Santa in December.

Additional Community Transformation Ministries

Often times, families with loved ones receiving care at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, do not want to leave the side of their family member. These baskets filled with snacks, puzzle books and words of encouragement, allowing for family members to stay with their loved one, providing tangible items of support for the grieving family.

Specific items are needed for baskets and donations are greatly appreciated.

The donated clothing we receive, goes directly to our partnering churches. Our partner churches distribute the clothing in the neighborhood where they are located. Clothing is given away free to individuals in need.

We accept gently, used clothing for adults and children. We ask that donated clothing be brought to us in bags or boxes, no hangers please. For more information regarding our clothing ministry, including where our partner churches are located and volunteer opportunities please contact us.

By collaborating with disAbility Connections, we build residential ramps for children and adults with disabilities living in Jackson County. All of our ramps are built to ADA specifications. Those interested in having a ramp built, must contact disAbility Connections. disAbility Connections approves all applicants.

The Heart to Give ministry provides an opportunity for children and adults to choose a gift to give to a loved one at Christmas. This ministry opportunity takes place the 3rd Saturday in December during our community food pantry at JaxNaz Church, between the hours of 9am and 12 noon.

Weeks preceding the event, we collect new, unwrapped gift items, approximately $10 value, that would be appropriate for an adult. Items such as gloves, slippers, winter hats / scarves, coffee/travel mugs, earrings, tools, sturdy flashlights with batteries, warm socks, cologne, calendars, candles, body wash & lotion sets.

We welcome volunteers for all or part of the event to help with gift wrapping as well as to help the smaller children make gift selections.
