We recognize that poverty in Jackson is real. 15.2% of the people living in Jackson County and 32.8% of the people living in the city of Jackson, live in poverty. Between 2012 and 2017, God provided the resources for our Food ministries to provide food to 84,891 family units at one of our community food pantry sites alone. Through collaboration with local churches, each sharing a desire to build relationships with families and individuals, we now distribute food at fourteen different sites throughout Jackson County. Last year alone, we distributed 9,220 food-filled backpacks to children identified as being at risk of going hungry over the weekend at eleven different schools through our After-School Backpack Program.
