Life and Community
David's Promise is more than just a program; it's a vibrant community. Participants engage in activities that foster independence and develop essential life skills while supporting each other and the community.
Even after formal schooling ends, the journey of learning and personal growth continues. Our life enrichment programs vary daily and include fitness classes, community volunteering, gardening, music therapy, cooking, job readiness skills, and art appreciation classes.
Participants experience the joy of art appreciation with classes from Jackson School of the Arts. Our monthly music sessions, courtesy of Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services, add another layer of creativity. There's always something meaningful to discover and enjoy together.
At David's Promise, serving others is at the heart of what we do. Participants engage directly with our community through hands-on gardening. Throughout the growing season, we plant, weed, and harvest fresh vegetables in our community garden. These vegetables are then shared with families and individuals who truly need them. It's a meaningful way to connect and make a difference together.
David's Promise participants have made table favors for the Queen's community-wide dinners, made items for the local animal shelter, sewed hats and mittens to give to the homeless. Additionally, they serve the community through CMJC's Fresh Food Distribution, and fill food bags for school-aged children and youth facing food insecurity through through CMJC’s After-School Backpack program.

Our Support
David’s Promise is a ministry of Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County. Currently, participants can be part of the David’s Promise community at no cost. We are a faith-based nonprofit that depends upon the faithful giving from community members, churches, organizations and foundations throughout the US. We are grateful for those of you who believe in our vision and support our ministry financially.
“The art of artistic creation expands and inspires young minds. An education rich in the arts is critical to the full intellectual, emotional, and social development. Watching the participants at David’s Promise light up when they complete an art project or participate in dance, speaks of itself! The arts enrich their everyday lives.”
