A Heart to Give
A Heart to Give ministry allows for both children and adults who visit our food pantry on the third Saturday in December, the opportunity to experience the joy of giving. Those who choose to participate, will identify a loved one they wish to give a gift to, and then wrap the gift.
Following Jesus' words to clothe people, we collect gently used and new clothing. The clothing we collect is given to community partners and in turn, they distribute the clothing in their neighborhoods. Our clothing partners are Higby Street Church of Christ, Pentecostal Lighthouse Church, Seventh Day Adventist Community Center and Central Wesleyan Church.
Our Comfort Basket ministry is an outreach to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. We offer these baskets, filled with snacks, tissues, puzzle books, etc., to families who have a loved one residing and receiving care at the Hospice Home.
Our goal is to make sure every home has a working smoke alarm. The Smoke Alarm Program provides and installs a working smoke alarm to families in need. Our Firebox Recovery ministry provides essential items to families who experience a house fire. The fireboxes include items such as towels, pillows, hygiene kits and more.
Foster Care Support
Many of the youth that come to foster care arrive with their belongings in garbage bags, causing feelings of unworthiness. The Foster Youth Project provides duffel bags, jeans, sweat pants, long sleeved t-shirts and pajamas, for youth ages 10-18. Additionally, Breakfast with Santa is for children who are in foster care and/or have been adopted. Children enjoy decorating cookies, playing games, and visiting Santa
Northwest Adopt a Family Tree
CMJackson partners with Northwest High School’s student government, adopting families in need during Christmas. Ornaments are hung on a Christmas tree with the item the child is asking for, and selected by persons wanting to purchase a gift.
From seeds started in our greenhouse, to planting them in our garden and raised beds, the community garden yields fresh produce throughout the summer months. The produce we harvest assists our hunger ministry guests.
